Honey and warm water is the best home remedy in the initial stages of cough, regardless of its nature.And if your child feels warm, please check the temperature using a standard contact thermometer in the armpit (or special ear thermometer). You may give plain Paracetamol (an over the counter medication) in appropriate doses (as mentioned on the pack) if the temperature is more than 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
Also initiate tepid sponging with a wash cloth soaked in water at about 90 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
